The Buzz. . .

Peers | CD Reviews | Radio

The word is traveling fast about Jennifer.

Peers

"Jennifer is a solid songwriter who is taking the bull by the horns in a
Texas music scene dominated by a rowdy crowd of boys. Not only can she hang
with them, she can turn those boys to jello with her voice...me included."
John Evans

"Jennifer is one of the most refreshing talents to appear upon the lone star
horizon in quite some time. Her vocals and writing combine for a very real
and honest sound that is difficult to find in a world of thin metaphors and
hollow singers. Please go watch her sing!"
Houston Marchman

"I predict in the very near future you'll be hearing Jennifer Fitts' name
mentioned in the same sentence with artists such as Kelly Willis and Lucinda
Williams. Intelligent lyrics, a great voice and looks to match. It was a
pleasure to work with her."
Clay Blaker

Pleasant Surprise. Where are all the good Texas female artists? Well here's one.
This is Jennifers debut CD and she's done a darn fine job of it. This is a great example of current day Texas country. Jennifer has written every track on this EP (7 tracks) CD and you get a good view of the talent that will be coming out this Houston based artist. You should take a listen to this one.
Matt Western - www.twangsville.com

"Jennifer has a strong, clean sound to her voice and notable song writing
ability. In her writing Jennifer says the things we sometimes find hard to
say. And sometimes it is just best if it is said in a song."

. . . I am playing cuts off of Jennifer's CD nearly everyday. All 7 songs are great and we look forward to her stopping by the station the next time she is in the area.

. . . It starts with two contemporary country gems, the title track and "Southern Comfort." Then she shows off her traditional country song writing skills with "It Was Only the Wine" (with a little salsa beat mixed in for fun) and "Time I Stopped Lyin," which could have been written by Loretta Lynn in her prime. Jennifer's writing skills really knocked me out. "Girl" singers seem to get lost in the shuffle of great Texas performers, and I'd hate for this one to meet this fate.

Bottom line is that "Pleasant Detour" will be getting airplay in Dallas. I Played "It Feels Like Your Still Here" right off the bat (a cool song with Cory Morrow). Then I went home and listened to the entire CD and was mildly surprised that the rest of the CD was awesome.
